Pub Knits: Customize Your Own Sweater
Knitting from a pattern can be just like cooking with a recipe. You can follow the pattern to the letter, using the yarn and needles that are called for in hopes of getting a finished product like the designer intended. You can also “spice” things up by substituting a different yarn (perhaps finer than intended), changing the needle size or changing the dimensions (sleeve length, positive or negative ease). This class is intended for the adventurous knitter who is ready to treat a pattern as jumping off point, rather than a strict set of rules. We will use the Ranunculus pattern by Midori Hirose as our “recipe”. It is suggested that you check out the “Projects” tab for this pattern on Ravelry to get an idea of how you would like to customize your sweater. There will also be a couple samples of this sweater in the shop to showcase the options available.
Materials: Ranunculus pattern (available as an online Ravelry purchase), 450 - 850 yards of yarn in your chosen gauge (light fingering to worsted weight), 24” circular needle (US 8, 9 or 10) , stitch markers and a tapestry needle.
