The Weekend Raglan Sweater Using Elizabeth Zimmermann Method (Online Class)

Yarn Harbor

In honor of this quarter's knit-along subject, Elizabeth Zimmerman, we will be running this class using a classic recipe, The Weekend Raglan Sweater by Meg Swanson.

This is the online version of Brenna's wonderful in-person class.  In this class you will learn Elizabeth Zimmerman's famous percentage method to knit a customizable sweater that fits any size at any gauge. Elizabeth Zimmerman helped liberate knitters to make their own design choices.  Hers is a masterful, almost magical approach, and it is so much fun.

We will knit a very small version of the sweater so you will encounter all the techniques you will need to make adult sizes later.  We'll start an adult size in the last session.

You will need:
Pattern: Wool Gathering, WG 105, Weekend Raglan, digital copy from School House Press website or printed copy from Yarn Harbor.
Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (I'm using Lamb's Pride), about 450 - 500 yards for swatch and small sweater. And enough yarn to complete a sweater in an adult size.
If you want to make a hem edge at the bottom you will need a complementary or contrasting DK yarn, about 100 yards.
Needles: 16" and 40" circular needles in the size that gets the gauge and fabric density you like. Recommended US 7 - 9.
Scrap yarn, darning needle, and the usual accessories.

Instructor: Meta

When you register you will receive a Zoom invitation from me, Meta, your instructor.  Please knit a gauge swatch and have it ready for our first Zoom session. If you have time to read the pattern in advance, all the better.

Class Cancellation Policy:
