In this class you will learn all the basics of working stranded colorwork knitting. This simple pattern is a perfect primer on the technique, with a simple 4-stitch repeat that will give you a chance to focus on the finesse of your technique rather than memorizing a complex schematic. We will cover reading a chart, yarn management, and the various options for hand positions for both comfort and speed.

Materials:

  • Pattern: Winter's Fern by Trin-Annelie available in store for purchase or on Ravelry.com here.

  • 3 colors of Worsted weight yarn. For sizes Small (Medium, Large) Main color: 99 (105,112) yards. Contrasting color 1: 34 (36,39) yards. Contrasting color 2: 38 (41,43) yards.

  • 16"circular needles in sizes US 6 and 7, plus a set of US 7 DPN’s, or use Magic Loop for decrease section

  • stitch markers

  • tapestry needle 

Homework: Download pattern from Ravelry. With smaller needles, knit the "Brim/Ribbing" section in pattern for a total of 16 rows
