This is a hands on class where we will cover the basic tapestry weaving techniques and how to make your own woven wall hanging. You will learn how to warp your loom, plain weave, rya knots, soumak, create shapes and designs, and how to finish your piece. You will leave with a finished woven wall hanging and the knowledge and confidence to continue creating beautiful tapestry weavings in the future. Included in this class is the use of a tapestry frame loom, looms are also available for purchase. We will continue to work over the lunch hour so bring a lunch or there are local shops available for purchasing lunch in the area. No previous experience required. Open to ages 12 and up.
Materials: Yarn for your weaving. Any weight yarn or combination. Roving and or fabric also an option. Amounts will vary depending on fiber weight and weave so grab some favorite colors and combinations. You are in the right place if you need more. Also bring a tapestry needle and scissors. Cost of class includes use of weaving frame, weaving tools, warp,and dowel.
