Spring is right around the corner and a new knitted top is a great way to celebrate. The Magna Flora is a pullover, circular yoke garment that is knit top-down for easy try-ons. The flower-inspired lace adds a lovely touch of interest and is fun to do whether you are a beginner or expert at lace. Made with worsted weight yarn, it flies off the needles! In this class, we'll plan and measure; discuss gauge, swatching, ease, modifications, and magic loop vs. DPNs for sleeves; and how to avoid second sleeve syndrome. If you’re ready to take the leap into garment knitting, this is an excellent place to start.
Please note that there will be homework between classes.
Materials: Magna Flora by Alisa Hartzel (available on Ravelry), enough worsted weight yarn for the size planned (and extra if you want to make the body or sleeves longer), stitch markers, measuring tape, and tapestry needle. The pattern suggests using US 7 and US 9 needles; however, the needles you use will depend on your gauge swatch. For the first class, it is recommended to bring a combination of US 8, 9 or 10 needles (cord length doesn’t matter, as we’ll talk about what to choose as you make your sweater).
You will receive a 10% discount on materials purchased for the class, once registered we will send you an email with the discount code.
